Caleb Whitmer manages projects for the Center for Social Flourishing and the PovertyCure initiative, including co-producing media projects, organizing conferences and other events, managing web content, and serving as a copy writer and editor.
Caleb began his career in journalism, serving as a copy editor, reporter, and photographer for several newspapers. He reported on a wide variety of topics with a general focus on local politics, breaking news, and feature writing. An enthusiast for classical education, Caleb left reporting to spend a year teaching English, Latin, and government at Sacred Heart Academy in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He then worked in communications for a year at Consumers’ Research, a small consumer advocacy firm in Washington, D.C., working on a variety of writing and editing projects, before joining the Thomistic Institute, an educational apostolate of the Dominican House of Studies that promotes the Catholic intellectual tradition on university campuses. As manager of student programs, Caleb oversaw the growth of the TI’s campus chapters program from 40 to 85 chapters, helped organize several dozens conferences and hundreds of lecture events, managed a variety of digital programs during the COVID-19 pandemic, and assisted in the development of the TI’s Aquinas 101 series and social media presence.
Caleb’s written work has been published in various places. Holding a bachelor’s degree from Hillsdale College, he lives with his wife and children outside Grand Rapids, Michigan.
